These favorite Netflix series are getting another season

netflix series Blood & Water Valeria The Sinner: Jamie

For a moment, I was afraid that the coronavirus crisis would cause many series to come to an abrupt end. Of course, many people are sitting in front of the TV (or were, during the lockdown), but filming becomes quite difficult with continuous distance and/or a maximum number of people in a space. Especially in America, where everything is still very much at a standstill. That is also the reason why we got a sudden season finale of Riverdale this season — the real finale could not be filmed.

But this is a positive message, because the first series have been renewed. Yes, yes, with the absolute highlight being The Sinner. Quite remarkable, because season 3 (with Matt Bomer in case you forgot why you want to see him) comes out on June 19. Even more remarkable that the company behind The Sinner is only canceling series. They clearly have confidence in this series and that's great, now I am even more looking forward to the upcoming season and this prospect is of course nice. But, can Matt Bomer also get an extra little season? Pretty please?

The next series that has been extended and in this case is getting a second season is Blood & Water, a South African series that I previously recommended and that I genuinely liked. A great replacement for Gossip Girl (although nothing really compares to that, of course), it had a bit more tension and in terms of addictive quality, I found it quite sufficient. Season 2 is on its way, when is still unknown.

And then, last but not least: Valeria. Where Blood & Water was the replacement for Gossip Girl, this is the Spanish version of Sex & The City. And okay, maybe it shouldn't be too long again, but I will be hanging around in our own little country this summer, so a sunny Spanish series is very welcome. This will also be the second season, and if you haven't watched the first one yet: do it. The only downside of Sex & The City I found was Carrie — she was really unbearable, wasn't she? And you won't find that in Valeria. Plus point.

All these new seasons will take a while, but at least it's a nice prospect. First, let's wait for June 19, and then we will be sweet for a while with that third season of The Sinner. You won't hear me complaining today.
