These sweaters do not itch

Sweater weather woman in the kitchen wearing a sweater

My home office outfit consists of jeans and a sweater, because when I sit still it is getting a bit too chilly for my boiler suit. That's why I'm on the hunt for sweaters, but the ones that don't itch. If I even have the idea that a sweater itches, I don't know how quickly I can get that thing off. Nights in freezers, splashes of vinegar in the wash, kneading with a conditioner; you can't think of anything too crazy that I haven't tried on my favorite sweater. In the meantime, I'm turning to reading labels, because that's actually the only way to escape that itchy misery.

The finer the fiber of the wool, the less chance of itching. For example, merino is very fine, which reduces the chance of prickly fibers. You also seem to be safer if there is a woolmark on the sweater. Furthermore, good old sheep wool itches more than, for example, alpaca wool, lamb's wool, or cashmere. You do have to invest in it, but then you won't have any itching. And if you can't stand any of this, there's always the cotton mix. So I now have a blue cashmere piece from Filippa K and a red cotton mix from Ganni in my digital basket, which should get me through the winter itch-free. #zinin
