This is how to argue less with your loved one

Nothing wrong with a good argument, it can even be a relief sometimes. But experts anticipate an increase in quarrels (and divorces), which I can imagine.

Honestly, I can't remember the day and location when I got upset about my partner being late for dinner. But suddenly I was sulking at the kitchen table and slopped the dish with sweet potatoes and vegetables back into the oven. Because: angry. Which made him walk in with his eyebrows furrowed and breathe very irritated while taking off his coat. And we all know the difference between normal breathing and irritated breathing. I quickly regained my composure, he did too, and in the end, it still became cozy, but it's a fact that even we are a bit quicker to enter the argument mode this week. While he is still working outside the door, aiaiai.
Not at all strange, says professor of mass psychology Hans van de Sande to Quest, because we are ill-suited for isolation. Normally, you walk away when it gets a bit too hot under your feet because your partner is stamping and foaming at the mouth trying to make a point: that can't happen now. A recipe for escalation. As social animals, we don't like being locked up and we enjoy being with friends and family, even if it's just to vent.
But there are ways to deflect arguments…
1. Go do things. Renovate your house (without going to the hardware store with ten people) or create a new garden. Learn to play the guitar or take digital Italian lessons. It doesn't really matter what, but when you're busy, you're less likely to argue. We have some suggestions.
2. Create a rhythm. Get up at normal times and try to structure your day as similarly as possible. It sounds boring, but it seems to help.
3. Make a schedule in case of children. And it seems that everyone with children now immediately understands why, because when they get bored, it gets really unpleasant.
Do you still feel like having a little argument? Then these are the ways to get it.
