This is what happens in the first episode of Grace and Frankie season 7

I was fully convinced that season six would be the very last of Grace and Frankie. Of course, I cried my eyes out (a bit exaggerated, but there was definitely a tear), they are still coming out with that seventh season. Oh happy day. And then came corona... Great. All series on hold. Fortunately, the old dears Grace and Frankie know how to handle this creatively and keep us updated online. Look, that's thinking in solutions.
Because the script for the seventh season is finished, and as it should be, there is a table reading involved — where the entire cast and people behind the scenes sit around a table and read the script. Normally, this happens behind closed doors, but to involve us fans a bit, they did this live on the internet last night. With a Q&A afterwards. It ended up being almost an hour and a half. The link is at the bottom, but if you don't have time or inclination to watch for an hour and a half, I'll quickly catch you up.
First of all, I want to start with a fact that I recently discovered. It sounds a bit silly, but when I saw a photo of both actresses (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) on the red carpet recently, I had to swallow for a moment. Both beautiful for their age, mind you (the secret is ‘good genes and a whoooole lotta money’ according to Fonda), but still a bit different than in the series. More wrinkles, a bit older, that kind of thing. It turns out that their faces in the series are made to look younger by CGI. Seriously. To be honest, that was sometimes noticeable in the last season, because I thought their faces looked a bit too polished at times.
But anyway, enough about the looks, what do we know about season 7? Brianna is not so happy, because Mallory is now her boss and the acceptance is not going very smoothly. Grace is being thoroughly questioned by the FBI due to Nick's tax practices (which Frankie is of course involved in). And one more small thing: the money that Nick has left lying around and what the girls now have to hide. Money that the FBI is also looking for. Hiding that is going to be a tough job, because Sol and Robert are constantly walking around in the same house. Due to a typically awkward moment from Frankie, they lose the money.
Robert and Sol argue, because living together with four at home turns out (surprise, surprise) not to be a very good plan. Especially not if Sol still uses Frankie as a confidant instead of his own husband. I might as well spoil the end of the episode for convenience: Robert and Sol find the money, panic ensues, and at that moment the FBI is at the door. It’s all about timing. Now that Robert and Sol are involved in this illegal matter, they are obliged (or well, they could of course be honest but I think that chance is small) to lie to the FBI.
So that's the first episode of season 7 in a nutshell. I really recommend watching the video. The table read is via Zoom, and if I ever had the illusion of being able to act, I have lost it now. Everyone is completely in their role while sitting at home in their house. Marta Kauffman (the creator, also known from Friends) explains where the scene takes place and what happens in terms of movement and events. I was completely into it. And that Q&A is also fun to see afterwards by the way. Funny questions and the cast together is great, they have a lot of fun together (handy when you make seven seasons together). And I'm afraid it's also the only thing we get to see for now... Season 7 probably won't come out until 2021, so take that first episode with you.
