This is what we know about the Dutch Netflix Original

In 2021, something very nice is on the horizon, a new series is coming to Netflix. And not just any series, no, a new Dutch Netflix Original. And yes, I understand that you might be a bit hesitant about that. So am I. Because I haven't forgotten about it, you know. The trainwreck Ares. It was announced to me in such a grand way, man. It supposedly received a gi-gantic budget from Netflix (for Dutch standards, that is). Heart-stoppingly thrilling. It would give us sleepless nights. Well... That's clearly not what happened. Because it was — how do I say this nicely? — not so great.

So here we go, a second chance. A new Dutch Netflix Original is coming out in 2021 and it's called Dirty Lines. And maybe they thought at headquarters: we need to approach this differently. That weird monster thing (yes, really) and a student association like Ares, that didn't work so well. So we're taking the easy way: something that always scores. SEX. Yes, how could it be otherwise... Dirty Lines is about sex.

But not just any sex, you know. It's not going to be a new 365 DNI, thank god. It actually has quite an interesting plot: in the 1980s, a young businessman, Frank Stigter, starts the first phone sex business in Europe. And he does this in Amsterdam. And, it becomes quite a success. In no time, it becomes a million-dollar business and Frankie is at the helm of numerous phone sex employees.

The series is based on the book 06-Cowboys by Frank Saueressig. I'm definitely curious about it, so I'm going to order it. The series doesn't come out until 2021, so I have some time. But honestly... This sounds quite promising, right? I'm also very curious how they will capture that 80s vibe. I'm positive about this. Cautiously though, huh — because that Ares debacle is still very fresh in my memory.
