True crime lovers: this docu is a must-see

netflix The Ripper

There aren't many things I'm grateful for in the past year, as 2020 just wasn't great. But I can thankfully think of one thing, and that is the offering of true crime on Netflix, which keeps getting updated. I always thought I was a bit of the only one with this morbid interest in murder cases, but it turns out that it's actually really popular.

Soon there will be a docu about Jeffrey Dahmer — which I can honestly say I'm looking forward to. Sounds a bit strange given the fact that he was a serial killer with cannibalistic tendencies, but this is definitely one I want to see. In fact, every true crime lover wants to check this one off their list.

There are a number of cases that everyone knows. Madeleine McCann and Natalee Holloway are the most famous missing persons cases, but when it comes to serial killers, those would be The Zodiac Killer and The Ripper. In this case, The Yorkshire Ripper, who between 1975 and 1980 made no less than 22 victims in England, of which 13 ultimately died. The perpetrator was never caught and thus he is one of the most famous serial killers ever.

At first, it seemed like he was solely targeting prostitutes, but that ultimately turned out not to be true. The perpetrator himself was also said to be a prostitute, one of the theories. Or a doctor. Or a drug addict. Okay, you get it: there are thousands of theories about this and you can read for hours, but the result is that you end up frustrated because this person was just never caught.

The series will be called The Ripper and will be online on December 16. Check out the trailer: this one is definitely going on the list.
