Why everyone is talking about Virgin River

Why everyone is talking about Virgin River

This weekend I really saw it come by on The Gram more than usual. It seemed like 80 percent of the people were binge-watching on my Stories. Everyone was in a good mood because yes: Virgin River season 2 was online. Now I never want to miss a Netflix hype, so I started to look into it... Why is everyone suddenly talking about this series?

1. You can dream away wonderfully with it
A woman who packs her things alone and moves to such an idyllic village (it was filmed in Canada). The mountains. The lakes. If you've ever been to Canada (lucky you) you know how beautiful it is there, but to be honest: the show also manages to portray it well, even though they pretend it's in northern California.

2. It's romantic
Jack and Melinda, you can dream away with them too. It's such a love where you immediately know they will end up together, but it doesn't feel like a spoiling spoiler. You actually want them to be together because that makes watching even more fun.

3. It's super sweet
And sometimes that's not a bad thing at all. Sure, drama like Gossip Girl is also nice, but that doesn't fit in this setting at all. It actually resembles a hugely extended Christmas movie (because that third season is coming too) and you want to watch that all year round, right?

4. It doesn't ask too much of your brain
You can just calmly watch this series with a cup of tea on the couch and nothing intense happens, nothing weird; it just flows along a bit and before you know it, four hours have passed. I associate this show only with warm blankets, chocolate, and lit candles.

5. It's full of clichés and I’m lovin’ it
If you can be so super sweet as a show, so non-surprising and your storylines never become exciting or newsworthy but still everyone keeps watching, then you're doing it right. So actually this is a repetition of number 1: dreaming away to the max. I also want to move to the mountains now.
