Yolanthe on divorce: ‘There was no longer enough to fight for’

It has always adorned her and she continues to do so. Yolanthe doesn't air her dirty laundry. The actress is guest editor at Grazia this week and talks for the first time again – in her own way – about the breakup with Wesley.
“It’s difficult to talk about that part of my life. This isn’t just about myself and I want to handle it very carefully, precisely because it’s such a sensitive matter.” However, according to her, a lot has happened. “It’s really not the case that one little thing happened and then we immediately threw in the towel. A divorce has a lot that precedes it. But at a certain point, there was too much sadness, trust was lost, and then there wasn’t enough left to fight for.”
But as it goes with heartbreak: eventually, you pick yourself up. “I’ve reached the point where I can say: I haven’t failed. In my opinion, people don’t fail, but situations or ventures do. In this case, my marriage. Sometimes things just don’t work anymore or go wrong. You have to learn your lesson from that, no matter how painful, and hopefully, you’ll become stronger from it one day.”
And that’s just how it is. Oh, and Yo, I really wish you a sweet, lovely new love in your life one day. Go for it, girl.
