10 funny animal facts you didn't know

If you know me a little, you know that I am a huge animal lover. In the past, my favorite show was the reality series about Meerkats on Animal Planet (still fun), I can meow at my cat for hours (and yes, I do, and people think I'm crazy), and number one on my bucket list is to walk with cheetahs. Maybe I'm just one of those cases that thrives better among animals than among people. Although you can socialize better with people. But animals are much more interesting. So many species, and new ones are still being discovered. And each species has its funny feature, a strange trait, or just bizarre habits. Check out the fun facts below, bet you didn't know those?
1. Ants can take up to 250 power naps a day. Today I accidentally found out that ants are my spirit animal.
2. The Greenland shark only reaches sexual maturity at the age of 150, and no, that's not a typo. They live between 300 and 500 years. Hoooly shit.
3. In parts of Sumatra, they believe that an orangutan can talk but refuse to do so because they don't want to start working.
4. Alligators and lobsters do not have a precise life expectancy. That is to say: they keep living until they get a disease or an accident that causes them to die. They do not ‘age’ in the way we do; their limbs, joints, and overall condition do not deteriorate. Extra ‘fun’ fact: it is common for alligators to die because they grow too large and cannot eat enough to keep themselves alive.
5. The number one cause of death for koalas is chlamydia.
6. If a male clownfish loses its partner, it develops female reproductive organs so that it (now she) can still reproduce. Gives Finding Nemo a slightly different twist, huh?
7. Animals that carry their babies in their pouch (like kangaroos) have three vaginas.
8. The eyes of an ostrich are larger than its brain.
9. The liver of a polar bear contains so much vitamin A that you would die immediately if you tried to eat it. As in, if you eat 1/10 of the liver, you're done for. A whole liver from a polar bear can kill up to 52 people. Whuuut.
10. Do you know that thing where guinea pigs jump around in their cage? That's called ‘popcorning’. Cute.
