Chris Noth is accused of sexual abuse

Chris Noth sexual abuse

Oh, no. Last night I stumbled upon an article from The Hollywood Reporter and I can’t say anything else about it except that it is very ugly. And it’s about Chris Noth, also known as Mr. Big. Two women have come forward with their story in which they say that he sexually assaulted them. This allegedly happened in 2004 and in 2015. Both approached The Hollywood Reporter with their story, separately, the two women do not know each other.

You can read the whole article read here, but I warn you: it is quite a long piece and it is fairly full of details. To protect the privacy of the women, they have worked with pseudonyms. The first woman, ‘Zoe’, is now a journalist. At 22, she moved to Los Angeles and worked for a company where celebrities regularly came by, including Chris Noth. He was flirting with her, she was charmed (because this was in 2004, the heyday of Sex and the City) and it was quite nice that Mr. Big noticed her.

With the excuse that he absolutely wanted to lend her a book (that she was going to return), she came by his apartment, and that is also the evening on which he allegedly raped her. All the details are in the article from The Hollywood Reporter, should you want to read it.

The second incident took place in 2015 and ‘Lily’ shares her story about it. She was working at a now-closed nightclub in New York at the time, where Chris came in. She was 25, he was 60, and he was openly flirting with her. Eventually, he asked her out to dinner, to which she said ‘yes’. Because of the large age difference, she didn’t think he would be seriously interested in her in a sexual way; she actually found it quite funny that the Mr. Big asked her out to dinner.

The evening went differently than she had thought when, after meeting him at the restaurant (the kitchen was already closed), she went to have a drink at his place. In hindsight, he sent her a message asking if she had fun and was okay with him, to which she indicated that she felt used and absolutely uncomfortable. He never responded to that.

The actor has also spoken out and said that the two stories are complete nonsense and that he would never ignore a ‘no’ from a woman. He also said that he indeed had sex with them, but that they consented to it.

Something tells me that this story will have a sequel. The Hollywood Reporter has been in extensive contact with them, but also with their friends who are aware of these incidents. They have listened to voicemails from back then and checked messages, and unfortunately, those align exactly with the story the women tell. Just a spoiler alert for Sex and the City: I suddenly don’t mind that he only appears in one episode.
