Move over, glühwein: Hot Aperol is the new trend

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: move over, glühwein: Hot Aperol is the new trend.
What do you get when you combine glühwein and Aperol Spritz into one drink? Yes indeed: Hot Aperol! This warm winter version of the popular summer drink is the latest hit in the beverage world that you want to taste.
Ingredients
90 ml Aperol
300 ml white wine
150 ml apple juice
30 ml orange syrup
1 orange sliced
For garnish: cinnamon sticks, star anise, a slice of orange, and a sprig of mint
Whether it's a cake with Aperol or Aperol fizz balls for a cocktail: everything with the Italian bittersweet liqueur is delicious. And this Hot Aperol – which you can easily make yourself – is no exception. The warm Aperol with glühwein feeling is actually not an entirely unknown drink; in Germany, Hot Aperol has been a true classic for years. So if you want to bridge the time while sipping an Aperol Spritz on a sunny terrace: this is your chance.
Here's how to make the Hot Aperol
- Wash the orange and cut it into slices.
- Heat the Aperol, white wine, apple juice, and orange syrup in a saucepan. Make sure it doesn't boil because then the alcohol evaporates (and we don't want that!).
- Serve the Hot Aperol in glasses with a slice of orange, a cinnamon stick, and star anise.
