Huh: Just Say Yes huge hit abroad

That I'm not really that impressed with the new Dutch Netflix movie Just Say Yes is now clear. But what also became clear to me almost immediately is that it is also not exactly loved by you guys. I’m not surprised further, because this movie didn’t come close to a passing grade for even a second.

That’s why the surprise was also extremely big when I found out that Just Say Yes is in the Top 10. World-wide. WHUT? How is that possible? Well, okay, I’m exaggerating a bit with the concept of ‘worldwide’, but in these countries it can definitely be found in the top ten: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Colombia, Croatia, Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Costa Rica. In that last-mentioned country, it even ranks second. What’s going wrong here, guys?

Now my Spanish, Italian, Portuguese — actually all languages except English — aren’t that great, so I can’t really look up the reviews for those. But the highest rating the film received from the Dutch media is one and a half stars; that’s quite an achievement in terms of low points, right?

Anyway, I can criticize the film as much as I want, but the creators are of course the ones who laugh last. Your film that is in the top ten in so many countries deserves a toast, I think. Whether everyone is hate-watching it (I think the chances are high) or actually finds it an incredibly good story, we have put this Dutch film back on the map. A bit of a shame that it’s with this gem. HAHA.
