Drink your spirits with diet cola instead of regular cola, then you'll get drunk faster

Mixed drinks: maybe not the best plan in your life when you're having a night out, but yes, at that moment it seems like an incredibly good idea to venture into that vodka ginger ale.
And so it always goes for many: regret only comes the next morning.
Upside down
Still, there is something important you can remember from now on: don't drink light drinks in your mix. Because if you drink Bacardi with light cola instead of regular cola that contains sugar, you'll get drunk even faster. It has everything to do with that light drink: not just cola. But also light soda, light Fanta, light 7UP, and so on. It comes simply from the lack of sugar.
A little chemistry and biology lesson for the people: when you drink alcohol mixed with sugary sodas, the alcohol stays in your stomach longer, which means it is absorbed into your blood more slowly. Sugar slows down the rate at which alcohol enters your blood. If you miss that sugar, then the strong drink gets into your body faster. And so you can already be tipsy after half a gin-sugarfree-tonic.
Faster
It has been scientifically researched, by the way. People who mix alcohol with light soda end up with an alcohol content that is 18 percent higher in their breath than when they mix it with regular soda. You get up to 25 percent drunker intensely drunk from light. They reacted slower and could no longer accurately assess how tipsy they actually were. Sounds like a classy night out, right? A simple experiment, but one that you better remember. If you're going to drink anyway, just pour that full-fat sugar mix. That's smart. Because a light drink actually counts for nothing: you might as well just put that bottle of vodka straight to your mouth.
By the way, never do that, okay? That's definitely not smart. We think you'll regret that for at least four days afterwards.
