Is Caitlyn Jenner added to the SATC cast?

That reboot of Sex and the City was announced just under a week ago, but already a lot of people have opinions about it and the wildest rumors are circulating. Samantha, or Kim Cattrall, is not participating — and there must be a reason for that. The simple reason ‘because she just doesn't want to’ seems to be unacceptable to anyone because that's clearly not juicy enough. No, behind the scenes, the ladies would be bashing each other's (and especially Kim Cattrall's) brains in, and we don't want that, so it was byeeee, Kim. If we are to believe the tabloids.

Anyway, it is a fact that she is not there and a logical consequence of that is that there is a spot open for a fourth BFF. The Samantha 2.0. It must be a worthy replacement because I think Samantha was many people's favorite character (myself included).

Well, she seems to have been found, you know. If we are to believe the aforementioned tabloids. It is... Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as a member of the Kardashian family. To be honest: she will have gained quite a bit of acting experience there, because I think there is nothing spontaneous or real about that. And I can know, because I watched all 19 seasons in a row during this lockdown (well, I had to do something).

The reason they would choose Caitlyn Jenner has nothing to do with her acting talent: they would want more diversity in the cast. Understandable, because no matter how much of a guilty pleasure the series is for me, when you watch it back nowadays, it stands out that certain things have not gone well over the years. The show could be so superficial, discriminatory, and racist, you know. Unbearable. Watching the episodes back is not really a party for me.

Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) has already complained about the lack of that diversity. She also finds it not very nice that in the series all New Yorkers automatically had a ton of money. Which is seriously impressive, in such an incredibly expensive city. That money, they will all still have in the reboot (even Carrie, with her little work, earned quite a lot back then, if we are to believe her wardrobe), but in terms of diversity, it could go very differently. Honestly, I am for it. I am especially very curious about how Caitlyn Jenner will perform in terms of acting. And will they really give her a character or will she just play herself? I genuinely think Kim Cattrall might actually agree with this character switch. Come on, signed, sealed, delivered — and now let's speed up those recordings, please.
