Jaimie Vaes opens up about her relationship, motherhood, and her own father with Robbert Rodenburg

To be honest, I wasn't very familiar with the YouTube series by Robbert Rodenburg, but when I read that Jaimie Vaes would be joining, I had to take a look. Now, of course, I am already a big fan of her reality series, but to be honest: it does remain a bit superficial. At least I think so, because I don't see much depth in trips to Dubai, riding camels, and hiring nannies. Entertaining: yes, absolutely, but do we really have an idea of who Jaimie Vaes is?

Not really. While I think she is an incredibly fun, nice, and intelligent woman. And yes, that also became clear during the interview with Robbert. Lil Kleine is often a bit crazy, that seems clear to me, but she knows that very well. And she is also aware that people don't always see her in a very positive light. ‘That's just another one who goes with a rapper and has had all sorts of things done to herself,’ she replies when they talk about the prejudices.

Of course, her relationship with Lil Kleine is also not left unspoken, because let's be honest: that's what we're most curious about. I always find Jaimie to come across as so calm and collected, and then you see such a screaming Lil Kleine who tears up banknotes for fun — how on earth does such a relationship survive?

And she doesn't always find that screaming image very handy. ‘What he does, I do too, what he does, I support. But that's not always the case,’ she tells, for example, about his behavior in Dubai. Just a refresher: when he laughed at us on Instagram in the Netherlands because we were in lockdown and he... Well, anything but #livingthelifeinDubai.

Yes, you won't see Jaimie doing that anytime soon. According to her, she is the more mature of the two, and I actually think that no one thought differently about this. But what else did we learn about Jaimie? For example, that she is very spiritual, really goes by the energy of people, and that she is a very loving mother.

And yes, of course, there were also tears. When Robbert asked about her father (whom we also saw briefly in In The Vaes Lane) who lives in Bali, and thus hasn't seen his daughter and grandson for over a year. Apparently, he wasn't very present during her childhood and she didn't have much of him as a father figure. Honestly: it's really a beautiful and open interview. And I am now, as we speak, going to watch the other interviews by Robbert Rodenburg, because I am a fan.
