Jaimie Vaes speaks openly for the first time about that fateful evening
If you're like me a loyal viewer of Jaimie: In The Vaes Lane then you know that this season we've mainly seen how Jaimie and co go shopping, dining out, and taking boat trips on luxury yachts. And that while there was quite a bit of commotion (understatement of the year) after a big fight between Jaimie and Lil Kleine. Lil Kleine even had to spend a night behind bars. But what exactly happened? After that, it remained suspiciously quiet, except that Jaimie often repeats in her reality series that ‘the stories are not true’. Okay, okay, but what is true then?
For the first time, she speaks openly about it. Not in her reality series, but in the magazine LINDA.Meiden. ‘At the moment, Jorik and I are on a break. He has a place in Amsterdam. As far as I can speak for him, he is working hard to become a better version of himself. I live with Lío in Ibiza. Something fundamentally had to change between Jorik and me, and such a transition happens in phases,’ Jaimie shares among other things. That she is in Ibiza, we already saw in In The Vaes Lane and also that she is working with a coach there to become stronger herself.
After that fateful evening, Jaimie and Lil Kleine released a video statement in which they proclaimed that nothing was true and that they were perfectly fine. Now, I believe no one really found that statement credible, and she has a bit of regret about it afterwards: ‘Bringing that statement out, I had mixed feelings about it. You probably see that on me. I'm sitting there with doubt, not 100 percent relaxed.’
She continues: ‘Was the statement a bit of steering from management? Perhaps. As public figures, we consult a lot with management, that's normal. We probably shouldn't have made it public. I should have listened to my intuition.’ She has probably learned a lesson from that, and that's of course only a good thing.
But then of course the question: what the heck really happened that night in Ibiza? Jaimie has the following to say about it: ‘We were invited to the opening of a hotel. Very famous Amsterdam Oud-Zuid seemed to have flown in and was partying along. Some things I still find too private now and I don't want to elaborate on. What is certain is that it was a turbulent evening for Jorik and me. An incident occurred in the category ‘should never have happened’. We had a disagreement, it escalated. But the horror stories that came out afterwards via the gossip press are not true.’
Not everything is true, hopefully — and thankfully so. I mainly hope that Jaimie is now enjoying herself in Ibiza with her son Lío, because getting such a load of misery dumped on you is not good for anyone, it seems to me.
