It all started with a scarf. With the news that there was a ten-minute version of a fan favorite. A big age difference. Broken hearts. Well, one broken heart at least. Yes, I'm of course talking about Taylor Swift. The fact that I'm a huge fan is not something I usually brag about, but since the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), it's not exactly a well-kept secret anymore. Because I literally listen to nothing else. I don't want to either.

But the song All Too Well is one that I — and this is serious — have cried liters of tears over. This is just THE song that describes everyone's heartbreak ever, and you can't convince me otherwise. So when it became known that the ten-minute version was coming on this new release, I was actually nervous. Would it live up to the years of hype? The relieving answer: yes. This song is brilliant. Really.

Only it's a bit of an awkward situation for Jake Gyllenhaal, because that's the person the song is about. How do we know that? We are swifties. We did the work. The research. And he broke her heart back then, and we're still mad about it. Better said: we're mad about it again. FURIOUS. Because he broke her heart when he didn't show up for her 21st birthday. What kind of action is that? Madness. And that scarf she left at his sister's. Okay, it might have been a relationship of about three months, but that doesn't matter. It was rare. I was there. I remember it all too well.

I assume Jake Gyllenhaal is aware of some of this, but for now, he remains silent. And maybe it's a bit silly that the whole internet is piling on him because of a three-month romance in 2010, but I find the jokes on the internet really hilarious. On TikTok, every video about heartbreak is now consistently responded to with ‘I don’t know what happened but I’m gonna blame Jake Gyllenhaal’ or something along those lines, and the memes are endless.
