Kim Kardashian was the host of Saturday Night Live

You've probably heard of the show Saturday Night Live. It has been a staple on American television for decades, every — the name says it all — Saturday. And thus live. Many well-known celebrities got their start here, such as Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, and Eddie Murphy. Currently, Pete Davidson is in the cast, who had the honor of kissing Kim Kardashian on Saturday. Uh, WHUT? Yes, she was the host and it's an episode you really want to see again.

Because there was so much criticism beforehand about Kim's choice as host. Why her? What has she accomplished, besides a sex tape? She has no talent, right? Well, there was criticism all around and I bet many people were watching on Saturday, fully expecting her to do terribly. It turned out to be quite different: Kim did incredibly well and actually seems to be funny.

Every episode of SNL starts with a monologue from the host, in this case Kim (her sidekick this episode was artist Halsey). It was basically just a minute-long roast of herself. That she hasn't experienced a film premiere of her own in so long — and the only film that has happened was without her knowledge (i.e., her sex tape). About how her appearance is the photo that her sisters show to the plastic surgeon. That she would be a gold digger for marrying Kanye (and that Corey, mom Kris's boyfriend, is the real gold digger). That she is so much more than just a pretty face (because: also beautiful hair, good makeup, good breasts, and a perfect butt). Self-deprecation all around and definitely worth watching.

Then let's move on to my favorite sketch, namely ‘The People’s Kourt’, where Kim does a spot-on imitation of sister Kourtney, who plays a judge. Kanye stops by, as does sister Khloé. Mom Kris sues Kendall for ‘not providing enough drama and that's just bad for their brand’ and also Kylie because ‘your pregnancy is really taking too long and that's costing us money’. Again, self-deprecation all around, with the ‘real’ Kris and Khloé and a bizarrely good imitation of Kanye by one of the SNL members.

Buuut there was so much more. A music video of Kim with ‘friends’ going out to the club as adult women and realizing that they are now really too old for a night out. Yes indeed: Kim is going to rap.

Okay, maybe this was my favorite, or were those the sketches that come after? Number one: a spoof of The Bachelorette, called The Dream Guy, in which Kim has to choose which men move on to the next round. The choice is quite tough, as among others, Chace Crawford, Chris Rock, Jesse Williams, and John Cena are still in the running. Although she has some issues with the last one: ‘I don’t really like the fact that you have a wife.’ So funny. Definitely worth watching.

Number two: a short sketch in which she plays Jasmine and Pete Davidson plays. They kiss and jokes are made about size does matter. Just watch.

The whole episode is honestly so much fun, so I will also post the remaining sketches. Oh yes, Halsey also performed. Unfortunately, he really got overshadowed by Kim, who truly stole the show. How she must be enjoying all those critics who were complaining beforehand and now have written reviews with their tails between their legs stating that this was one of the best episodes in recent years.
