Netflix tip of the week: Surviving Death

Moet zien: Overleven na de dood

Very grim, but I am just so incredibly afraid of death. Hopefully (knock on wood) it will be a long time before it's my time, but I can already get genuinely stressed about it. Not knowing what comes after (and the chance is quite high that there is absolutely nothing after), I can ponder for hours. Out of a sort of morbid curiosity, I also love to watch and read stories about near-death experiences and that kind of other grim stuff.

So yes, the new Netflix series Surviving Death fits perfectly in my alley. Based on the book by Leslie Kean, the creators explore in six episodes whether or not the afterlife exists. They talk to people who have had a near-death experience, speak with mediums, and discuss signs that the dead may have given. Does that sound airy-fairy? It really isn't.

It's actually super interesting to hear all those different perspectives. Whether you believe in mediums or not (I personally don't), or in reincarnation — it's very fascinating to hear about it from people who are completely convinced. In the case of reincarnation, it's actually a five-year-old girl who makes it even more fun. Kids can really have bizarre opinions about death.

Is this the most uplifting tip of the week? Neuhhh. But believe me: give it a chance and you'll be hooked. Before you know it, you've watched all six episodes. I speak from experience.
