Not about money or sex: we argue with our partner most often about dinner

You always see those intensely funny memes passing by: ‘Being married is mostly fighting about what to eat with the same person every day’. It’s really true.
Because we often argue with our partners about dinner. Not about too little sex or what you spent your salary on again, no, we nag endlessly about food. Almost two-thirds of the participants admit to arguing at least once a week about the household and specifically about ‘what we are going to eat’. Usually, it revolves around these two questions:
Who does the grocery shopping?
Who cooks?
Recognizable? Every. Day. Again. The same. Discussion.
Just get divorced
Good for quite a few arguments and bickering with your partner. And then you still have the dishes or putting everything in the dishwasher, cleaning the kitchen after cooking? We can already feel the irritations rising, honestly. Women find the level of helping out in the household more important than men do. A third would end her relationship if her partner never does anything. A lawyer specializing in divorces explains: ‘Attitude and behavior are often cited as the main reason for the breakup, but surprisingly often, such complaints stem from relatively trivial household problems. Discussions about who cooks or cleans the most can be the last straw, rather than weightier matters like fidelity, which you might expect.’
Exhausting
And not just with our lovely partners, it turns out. ‘Finish your plate!’. Parents argue on average six times a day with their children, mostly about food. On average, parents argue with their children 2184 times a year. A dispute between mother and child lasts an average of eight minutes. The biggest irritations are complaining about the food that has been cooked, not wanting to eat the food, quickly snacking on something tasty just before dinner is served, and whining when they are presented with something healthy. The ingratitude, huh?
Fortunately, there is still such a thing as ordering pizza. At least everyone keeps their mouth shut for one evening.
