Outings that are corona-proof and also fun

Wieke looking at her phone

Are you all so done with corona? Maybe a bit of a rhetorical question, but my goodness... Sometimes it really makes me sad. Especially when it comes out this week that this lockdown will probably be extended by at least (!) two weeks. It really feels like we will never get out of this. And then there's also a British variant lurking around that is even more contagious. Suuuhuuupertjes.

Okay, enough complaining: we have to make the best of it. Now it seems like I've spent most of the corona time binge-watching Netflix, and that's true, but every now and then I do go outside. Netflix can be corona-proof, but thank goodness there are still other activities you can do. Do you sometimes feel a bit gloomy like I do? No worries, who knows, you might find one of these outings fun, for a change.

Walking with wine
Glühwein or regular wine, both are fine, or a beer. Sunday afternoons were usually the time I went out for drinks with friends, to discuss the weekend and mainly just to catch up. That can't happen now, but this is definitely the next best thing. And you also get some exercise. Well, speaking of a win-win situation. You can of course take care of your own drinks, but every (larger) city has already mapped out a route. You don't even have to think about the route yourself.

Go oyster picking
Yaaa, how fun is this? I already love road trips, so that's great, because you have to head towards Zeeland for this. The oysters are literally there for the taking, completely free. You can take ten kilos per person, which is really a huge amount because you can never eat that much. Ten. Kilos. Per. Person. But hey, take them home, buy a nice bottle of wine to go with it, and you have a great evening. Or just as fun: bring a chair and some champagne including glasses, and enjoy the oysters there. You're definitely not the only one doing that, so it's also cozy.

Go to the drive-in cinema
Just google which one is near you, but how fun: a drive-in cinema. It always gives me Grease nostalgia. It's really a great idea for a (romantic) night out. The one from Pathé is unfortunately closed, but several companies across the Netherlands have started this as well.

Get among the animals
Walking with alpacas, spotting flamingos in the Grevelingenmeer... Picking oysters is also a bit part of this, but then you eat them so I don't count that. Spotting deer in the woods, horseback riding; all fun things you might not have done so quickly pre-corona.

Bubble football
I really think this is awesome and it's corona-proof. Hilarity guaranteed, because you really fly in all directions. It's handy if it's dry, because otherwise you'll end up in the mud and that's not really what you want. But definitely a recommendation.
