See: the first images of the Dutch Are You The One

Wow Kaj, you are doing great. Admittedly: I do miss you a little bit on Temptation, but come on, you are clearly busy enough. Expedition literally just started again on TV yesterday or the new program is already coming up. In this case, that is the Dutch version of Are You The One? You might know it from Netflix, where it has been available since this year. A bit tacky, but very enjoyable.

This is the concept: ten single women and ten single men are looking for their ideal match. Through the computer (or ‘the science’, as they say), they have been matched with someone of the opposite sex. By looking at their personality, preferences, and the complete picture, the computer has decided who their very best match would be. It is up to those singles to find out.

And that happens through various types of assignments. Of course, it always gets extra juicy because certain couples are interested in each other, but were not matched by the computer. And then you might think: who cares, if you find love it's still good, right? Well, not exactly. The winning couple — who were matched by the computer — wins €200,000. And it probably doesn't surprise you, but most participants prefer to go for that money rather than a (short) love.

It's delightful how this is presented again as a sincere dating program. No Kaj, you are not fooling us, this is just going to be delightfully tacky and you can say that, because we don't care. We will still watch. From October 15 on Videoland, and from October 17 on MTV.
