The tip for a sustainable home

We are counting down the days until we can move to our new dream place. Jon and I are really running on empty, but luckily there is more and more room to think about the fun things: the finishes. I came across Van de Bunt Interieur on Instagram and they make amazing wooden panels that you can place against walls. For Jon's boathouse – slash – guesthouse, we want to cover the entire back wall with these panels and also finish a piece of the fireplace with wood. In two weeks, they will already come to install these panels, I can't wait.

In terms of sustainable building, we can check almost all the boxes: crawl space insulation (believe me, until recently I had no idea…), exterior wall insulation, a hybrid heat pump, solar panels… And because our antennas are completely tuned to this, we even hear new possibilities at times when we are not focused on it. For example, Jon was driving home from the construction site yesterday and heard on the radio that a cool initiative has started, called ‘cool pear’: starting next week, deliver your old refrigerator to your municipality and upload a selfie of you and the refrigerator at the drop-off point on koelepeer.nu. Then you will receive an email where you can pick up your five pear trees for the backyard, how cool! We will definitely participate.

Now that we are still completely in the winter mood, spring seems very far away… But with a bit of luck, we can store our thickest coats in a month or so and make room for a new clothing season. My favorite kids' brand Donsje launched their new SS21 collection today and everything is truly delightful again. I have already ordered these cutest little shoes for the boys.
