THESE ARE THE TASTIEST CHEAP SNACKS

French toast

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: these are the tastiest cheap snacks.

Who says you need money to enjoy good food is wrong. Especially since the remote work era, finding and creating cheap snacks has become a kind of sport. A sport in which you can, believe us, really get better. Practice makes perfect, here are our cheap-ass tips.

Mini sausages in croissant dough
People who say they don't find this a tasty snack are lying through their teeth. This snack is always good, it was at my five-year birthday party and it was also at my thirtieth birthday. Always tasty and for that little extra you can add some mustard to the dough (or cheese).

Bapao
We can't help it either. Bapao just belongs in the list of cheap-ass snacks forever. It's cheap, it's easy, and it's just mega delicious. Bapao is pure gold. Add some chili sauce and go.

Pita cheese
Pita cheese student food? Yes, so what? It's deliciously cheap but with the cheese filling, you can really go wild. Throw in as much as you want, making it wonderfully cheesy. Adding Sriracha completes it.

French toast
Cheap-ass snacks are especially fantastic when you can make them at home with products you probably always have on hand. You never have to leave the house to buy anything else, so it feels like you're eating for free. Bread, egg, sugar, milk, and cinnamon and you already have great French toast. Want to treat yourself extra? Grab the jar of Nutella!

Salsa
Homemade salsa with tortilla chips: a few ripe tomatoes, a handful of cilantro, spring onion, red pepper, lime; all can be found cheaply at the Turkish store. Essential during the current frozen margarita season.

Cream spritz
Let's all be very honest for a moment. Sometimes your snack is just a pack of cookies. That's totally okay, you don't have to be ashamed, everyone does it sometimes. The tastiest cookies ever: the Albert Heijn cream spritz. Delicious crunchy cookie with a cream layer of advocaat flavor. And only €1.29. Divine.

Bruschetta with tomato
Very simple and yet not so standard. Lots of garlic and you have a special snack that costs exactly nothing.

Self-marinated olives
For the bruschetta or just like that: if you make them yourself, you give them that little extra and you almost feel like you're in Southern Europe.

Hummus with crudités
Actually making the hummus yourself but this is the ideal go-to responsible snack. Extra points for laziness if you buy cherry tomatoes, mini cucumbers, and mini peppers.

Peanut butter fans
All peanut butter fans pay attention. Toasted bread with peanut butter (with nut pieces and of course a jar without palm oil), banana, and sambal. Delicious! No bread at home? You're a peanut butter freak, so leaving out the bread is no problem. Prefer craving instant noodles? It tastes 10x better with a spoonful of peanut butter mixed in!

Popcorn
You literally don't have to do anything to it and it still feels a lot healthier than chips. I always think there should be something salty on a snack platter, a bowl of popcorn always does the trick!

Fried cauliflower
Healthy, just a bit more work (compared to popcorn) and you still steal the show while you might have spent less than five minutes on it.

Herring
Including onion and pickle, of course. Extra points again if you buy pre-sliced onions. Or support your local fishmonger. Just step out during work to grab some fresh air and fresh herring.

Avocado
Scooping out an avocado: the ideal snack. You can keep it simple with just pepper and salt. Feeling fancy? Sprinkle some paprika powder on top. If you really want to show off, fill the avocado with soy sauce and sesame.
