Things we really won't do anymore after corona

On the one hand, I find it a sad thought, but it really is going to be like this: after corona, it will never be the way it was. Now I think we will quickly get used to such a new reality again (we're actually doing pretty well during these lockdowns, how flexible we all are). The first day that the hospitality industry opens, I will naturally go wild, but I think it will soon be taken for granted again that you can go to the pub. Or have a coffee somewhere. Or open your laptop somewhere. Still, there are certain things that we really won't see again, I dare to bet my money on that. Just read along and shudder, because can you really not imagine this anymore?
Bowling will have to be done differently
Just imagine how this went pre-corona. You take shoes out of a shabby little cabinet, in your size, that have been worn by thousands of others before you without being cleaned. Then you go to the lane that is reserved for you, type all the names on a keyboard that has been used by thousands before you and hopefully – but let's not assume too much – it gets cleaned. Then the game can finally begin and you put your bare fingers in three holes where – you see it coming – THOUSANDS of others have sat before you. Then you hopefully throw a strike, cheer, take a sip of your drink, and maybe grab a snack that is ready. Waiting until it's your turn again and then it starts all over again. Uh, where is the cleaning session in between?
(Indoor) parties will never be the same again
The good old days when I used to go to Awakenings indoor. Or to Bravo at Lowlands, where the condensation literally drips from the roof (or cloth). On all the people inside. That you are having a great time and someone walks by who is just a bit too out of it and asks for a sip of water or cola. Of course, no problem, take it: we are all friends here. Want a hug too, all sweaty? Sure, that’s nice. Is that your sweat or my sweat? No idea, man.
Shot here, shot there...
And especially in places like the Amsterdam Bubbles or the Kleine Cooldown; those shots are of course no longer possible. No idea if they ever go through the dishwasher, but after you’ve thrown that disgusting Dropshot down, all the shot glasses end up in the water where the glasses are also rinsed. And those are taken out of that water for the next round of shots, probably again for other people. How. Disgusting. Is. This. It surprises me that there hasn’t been an earlier outbreak of some contagious virus in those places.
Borrowing each other's lip balm
I was always quite generous with my pot of Labello. It always lay on the table next to my phone because I am really addicted to lip balm. And often someone asks if they can have some too, and I think that’s perfectly fine. But post-corona? I don’t think people will be so generous with it anymore, because it also happens that you don’t really know that person well (not that people you do know well can’t get corona, but still). The same goes for using other people's makeup... That’s a bit different now.
Double dipping is a no-go
Sharing fries and then all dipping in that mayonnaise, taking a bite and then dipping again. This also happens with bitterballs, cheese sticks – with all snacks, actually. It’s of course not corona-proof at all, so how are we going to do that now? Everyone a separate bowl with sauce? Or just never share snacks again? Hmm, that last one doesn’t sound too bad to me...
