This is the most popular weekday to take off

A weekday off sometimes feels like a week of vacation. I enjoy being in Dille & Kamille on a Tuesday morning and not seeing a living soul, or having coffee on a terrace with my book, without having to meet anyone. I sound a bit like a loner now, but I really am only like that on those days. Nothing wrong with enjoying your own company.

Suzanne from Vrije Meid slides into my inbox every week with tips about working and especially about being free. This week's one triggered me, because what is actually the best weekday to take off? Good question, if you ask me.

By the way, you should know for yourself whether you work full-time or not, I mainly want to give you advice on which weekday you can best take off. For when you want to take one or want to build it into your workweek as a standard. It seems obvious to extend your weekend at the beginning or the end, but don't do that. Monday immediately gives you a backlog for the rest of your week (and colleagues) and to be honest: do you really want to miss that Friday afternoon drink? I didn't think so either. There is one day in your workweek that yields you much more.

It's Wednesday. Wednesday is also the most popular day to be off. This is of course due to kids and school, but there are more good reasons. Plus point one: many people are off on Wednesday, so the chance is smaller that they will bother you when you are professionally doing nothing. Plus point two: it nicely breaks up the week. That sounds a bit pretentious, but it's true. You give your all for two days, do other things for a day, and then you're back in full swing for another two days. Ideal if you want to build a solid rhythm in your week. The only downside is that the rest of the world is also off on Wednesday, so you can't shop alone anymore. But only loners like me have a problem with that.
