This true crime doc is so scary that you don't want to watch it alone

To I was really looking forward to this true crime doc. In general, I think: the dirtier, more intense, and darker, the better. And then you're in good hands with Richard Ramirez, also known as the Night Stalker. What a terrifying guy. It was of course also a matter of time before an extensive doc about him would come out and yes, there it was. With good spirits, I started on the four episodes that this miniseries consists of.

But seriously. This is really very grim. I already read texts on the internet like ‘nightmare material’ and the urgent advice that you shouldn't watch it alone. Or in the evening. And definitely not at night. Since I thought I could handle it (or so I thought) and am generally very stubborn and headstrong, I watched it late at night. Alone. In the dark. I can tell you: bad idea.

Because even if you can handle it, this one is quite intense, you know. You get to see footage of battered victims and as you can imagine, that's not very uplifting. Even worse is that this man didn't have a specific ‘type’, like many serial killers do. No, he just took them all. Including children.

So yes, I also give you the urgent advice to maybe not watch it alone. And if you do want to do that, make sure you have time afterwards to watch something cheerier like The Sound Of Music or Frozen or something — something with meaningless songs always helps me get into a cheerful mood. Let it goooooo. Away with that serial killer from my heaaaaad.
