Women who suffer from migraines are extra jealous in their relationship

Woman with migraine

Do you know that bizarre nasty feeling of a migraine? That your head is about to explode? That you can only lie in a dark room with your eyes closed? It's no fun.

It is even incredibly unpleasant if you often suffer from it. But now research has revealed something remarkable about women who suffer from migraines.

Biology lesson
They would actually be more jealous. Headache researchers from the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and Erasmus MC draw this conclusion in two new studies on the effects of migraines. By the way, migraine is not just a fuss, but it is indeed a clear women's ailment: it occurs three times more often in women than in men. How come? Differences in sex hormones play an important role here. In particular, fluctuations in estrogen levels seem to trigger migraine attacks. And men have testosterone, remember? That's why it's a women's ailment. And that's why we are faster to dislike the fact that your own man is looking at another woman.

It’s about
And that estrogen does the trick when it comes to jealousy in a relationship. You know, women who can't stand it when their lover even looks at another. Women who see green when their partner receives a message from someone else. Estrogen fluctuations cause you to become more jealous, and women with migraines suffer from this more, according to the researchers. The good news is: after menopause, this extra jealous behavior disappears again, because you then return to a calmer estrogen level. Then you can again stick with your love without arguing about nothing.

What might work in your favor when you come out snapping with jealousy again: just say it’s because of your migraine. Because that is now really proven.
