Yesss, Love Island has started again

Love island

What. Am. I. HERE. FOR. Especially since it came as a bit of a surprise — I hadn't been paying attention to a new season of Love Island at all. In fact, I'm still enjoying Joan and Mert (who by the way are still going strong). And when the measures weren't being eased, I didn't think Love Island was really a priority for RTL. But nothing could be further from the truth, because yesterday the very first episode was just online. LOVE IT.

As we are used to from Love Island, the first episode is mainly about getting to know the new Islanders. Oh yes, and there is a new villa, in Marbella this time. Go ahead and make it luxurious, okay? And that little pool, that should be nice too.

But we definitely need to talk about the Islanders. My first impression is that there are very few of them. Of course, more will join during the recordings to put a bit more pressure on the couples, and then the show really begins, but that first matchmaking session where the single girls have to step forward is still really so awkward.

I already like Morris the most with his ‘I study law… Really for a very long time.’ As a fellow long-term student, I can really relate to this. HAHA. ‘Besides, I work in a bar, because that’s where my heart secretly lies.’ Morris, you are my spirit animal. Hereby. And then you immediately have a sort of blue moment (he chooses Yasmin and she is, to put it mildly, not mega happy about it) which is also so awkward.

We also need to talk about Ali, because I think he will really be the Mert of this season. He looks a bit like him and I think they are both just as dry. I think this will be quite a juicy season, since three out of the five guests went for Yasmin. Will it be a fight for one girl?

Isn't it just delightful that we can watch this every weekday evening again? That first episode is always a bit of a struggle, now the party can begin. Do I mind that the hospitality industry is only open until eight? Not right now, I’m just going to be an old-fashioned couch potato during the week. Come on, Islanders.
