This is what you want to see: Hunted VIPS

Hunted VIPS

Goodmorning liebe leute. Did you watch Hunted last night? Yes? Then be sure to read on. Didn't see it? Oh, actually even better. We at the Hunted fan club don't discriminate, and you can definitely still join.

OK, so Hunted VIPS, the anniversary season of the programme Hunted in which Dutch celebrities go on the run, hoping to stay under the radar for three weeks. This while a special investigation team does just about EVERYTHING to find these people as quickly as possible.

The duos taking part in the manhunt are again brilliantly chosen. Fajah Lourens and daughter Irem, for example, who wrap their phones in aluminium foil ‘because it helps against radiation’. Or Mocro Mafia heroes Bilal Wahib and Oussama Ahammoud running around Amsterdam Sloterdijk station with Louis Vuitton bags. Then we have Kim Feenstra and Birgit Schuurman (love the combo already) and Dennis Weening and Klaas van der Eerden, who have to stay out of the hands of a team tracking them down. And believe me: just watching the manhunt will give you throbbing armpits.

How do you get around? Where do you stay? But also: do you manage not to contact family and friends for three weeks? Any kind of contact is a lead to get caught. Every phone call, every time you withdraw money, every time you drive your car down the motorway... How on earth do you, as a fugitive, stay out of the hands of an investigating agency? The cat-and-mouse game is actually more of a social experiment. And what actually counts more: safety or freedom?

Anyway, the fugitives win the moment they stay out of the hands of the cops for three weeks. And believe me: you may think you are outsmarting the technology, but you are not.

Hunted VIPS, every Monday morning 8.25pm on NPO3.
