Last week I already tipped you about the Azores: a group of islands that belongs to Portugal and where I was last month. Now, the beautiful nature there speaks for itself, so I understand if you don't need any further persuasion to want to go here. But where should you sleep? I have two really nice tips for you, which have been tested and approved by yours truly.
Starting with Senhora da Rosa, Tradition & Nature. This boutique hotel is located in the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada. That is also the largest city on the island of Sao Miguel, but when you are here, you feel like you are in the middle of nature. The rooms are top-notch (the beds are very comfortable, which I always consider a plus), the breakfast is very extensive and fresh, and at the bar, you can enjoy a drink — from cocktails to local wines. There is also an outdoor pool, but also a small indoor pool in the greenhouse. Very nicely done and you can really relax here.
But you can also relax very well at Sul Villas & Spa. A bit of Ibiza vibes in the Azores, with lots of white and especially a lot of space; the different rooms here each also have a large terrace with a view of the ocean — some even have their own pool. But it is also perfectly fine to hang out at the general pool and sun loungers. Be sure to book a massage here, by the way, that was one of the best I've had in ages.
I booked both accommodations via Eliza Was Here, where they have even more options in the Azores. I found these two very nice because it is really an oasis of peace, so a nice change from the walking and daytime program. Oh, and definitely reserve a dinner at one of these locations (even if you are not staying there), because the food is top-notch.
