The 10 most fun food festivals in Europe

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the most fun European food festivals of this summer.
We can't promise that the lines will be shorter at foreign festivals, but if you enjoy visiting a food festival in another country this summer (and who wouldn't want that), then these ten European food festivals are absolute must-visits.
For us, holiday fun mainly means ‘what can I eat all day long and where and how do we plan the trip around the food?’. And whether you happen to be nearby or decide on the destination while reading this article: take advantage of this list.
1. Berlin Beer Week, Berlin, Germany
In the mood for a German beer party but not interested in the dirndls and lederhosen of Oktoberfest? It can also be more modern and less crowded at the Berlin Beer Week. On September 3, 2022, you can taste more than 90 different beers at Kulturbrauerei Kesselhaus and listen to live music. A dance is definitely appreciated, and there will be a big afterparty.
2. Stragusto Festival, Trapani, Sicily
Sicily is known for its fantastic street food, and during this festival from July 27-31, 2022, you will not only taste local specialties, but all of Italy will be represented with various top dishes. There will be wine tastings at sunset, and if you, like us, firmly believe that authentic Italian food never misses the mark, then you really have to go here. Pani cà meusa, do you dare?
3. Vijazz Festival, Vilafranca del Penedès, Spain
Vino and Jazz, that's quite a mature top combo, right? Relaxing with live music and a great glass of wine; that screams ‘holiday feeling!’ as far as we're concerned. You can also take various wine workshops here. This festival is from July 1-3, 2022.
4. Napoli Pizza Village Festival, Naples, Italy
Don't get between Italians and their pizza, no, just join in! From June 17 to 26, 2022, you can enjoy pizza, pizza, and more pizza in Naples. Italian beer and Italian wines are surely available, and there will definitely be soft drinks. In short, nothing stops you from visiting a truly gigantic pizza party (if you're in the area).
5. Trøndelag Food Festival, Trondheim, Norway
Trondheim is already a gastronomic hub in Norway, and during this festival from July 28-30, 2022, it will be even more so. Many local products and preparation techniques are in the spotlight here, and the event has previously welcomed more than a quarter of a million visitors. A special place and a great opportunity to experience both modern and traditional Norwegian cuisine.
6. Copenhagen Cooking Festival, Copenhagen, Denmark
We're staying in Scandinavian vibes. FavorFlavs Lauretta was recently in Denmark for three weeks for her studies and has since declared that she would choose Copenhagen if she had to live somewhere else. You can eat and drink incredibly well there, and this festival from August 19 to 28, 2022, will definitely be a hit.
7. Sardine Festival, Portimão, Portugal
In Portugal, sardines canned in beautifully illustrated tins are already something to stock up on and take home, but also fresh, crispy fried or grilled, they are an amazing local delicacy. This festival is all about these little fish, with meters of barbecues where they are grilled to end up in heaps on your plate. Fun and local, really a recommendation in the Algarve. From August 3-7, 2022.
8. Seafest Seafood Festival, Weymouth, England
In England, you can eat incredibly good fish and shellfish along the south coast, and during Seafest on September 10 and 11, 2022, as a festival and seafood lover, you can really indulge yourself. Eating oysters and sipping bubbles; personally, that's all I need for the ultimate holiday feeling (as I mentioned earlier in this article about my oyster obsession in a French coastal town).
9. Machsee Lake Festival, Hanover, Germany
Between July 27 and August 14, 2022, the promenade at Machsee in Hanover, Germany, will be transformed into a fairy-tale boulevard with festive lighting and dozens of stalls with delicious food. There will be music, entertainment for children, and on the lake itself, you can sail and do some light water sports. Very cozy all around.
10. De Parade, various cities in the Netherlands
The Parade, a traveling theater festival with incredibly varied restaurants, super good cocktails, and an overall summery vibe is finally back. Go there, eat and drink well, and definitely attend a performance (or several), because there are really gems among them. Cheers to summer!
