This color is best worn on a first date

What on earth do you wear on that first date? It remains an eternal dilemma, but fortunately, it is the most fun dilemma to have. It's been a while since I had my first date, but I can still remember well (grandma speaks) that I always chose the safe option. That is to say: a casual outfit that was thought about for days, but absolutely did not look like it. Often black or white, in any case NOT too colorful, because that would be quite off-putting. 

Now it turns out that I have totally missed the mark all those years. Okay, that might be a bit exaggerated because otherwise I wouldn't be in a relationship now, but when it comes to those colors, I was a bit off. An English study shows that wearing color does not scare people off at all, but is actually incredibly found attractive. 

For this study, 1128 women and 1232 men were surveyed, all of whom were in a relationship. The participants were asked if they remembered what their partner wore on the first date. No less than 92 percent could recall this, and the big question was of course to what extent color contributed to that. Well, that impact turned out to be quite significant: 69 percent of men and 64 percent of women admitted that the color of the clothing did indeed influence how attracted they felt to their current partner.

The color that participants found most beautiful on women? Red, the color of love and passion. Pff, how cliché again. Next is blue, in third place green, fourth black (phew) and in fifth place purple. I would absolutely never wear that last color on a date, but who am I? The numbers don't lie after all. This also immediately explains why my boyfriend can't remember what I wore on our first date, which was an off-shoulder top in white. Such a shame.

Finally, here are the top five colors that men should wear on a first date according to this study. In first place is gray, second black, blue in third place, green in fourth and white in fifth. Well, I understand very little of this again. Gray is the color where you quickly see sweat stains, right? My preference for what my date wears also leans towards white or black, so maybe we can say that I'm just not such a colorful person.
