Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the 23 coolest hotspots in De Pijp, Amsterdam.
Maybe it's because I live within crawling distance of De Pijp, but I think this is the coolest neighborhood in Amsterdam. And yes, I know I'm going to get a lot of opinions for saying that. And yes, West is nice, East too, North as well. And I really need to explore those more, but I just can't because I love De Pijp so much.
Can you really not imagine that? Maybe this delicious list of the coolest hotspots in De Pijp, Amsterdam will help. Breakfast, lunch, dinner… And let's not forget about drinks!
The coolest hotspots in De Pijp, Amsterdam
Window 33
People who know me a bit are probably not surprised that this one is number one. A well-deserved number one, in my opinion: a large and lovely terrace, the best cocktails (Moscow Mules!) and that divine tatsuta on the drinks menu. For lunch and dinner, you’re also in the right place here; try the vegan burger from Beyond Meat. DELICIOUS.

Wijmpje Beukers
If I have something to celebrate or if I just feel like having a really nice dinner, this is my go-to. The only upside of corona is that you have to reserve here after the lockdown: it’s always full. Understandably so, and waiting with a drink is no punishment. The menu changes weekly (with a few fixed items) and the service is the absolute best in all of Amsterdam. Seriously.
Karel du Jardinstraat 47
Renato’s Pizzeria & Osteria
I can't choose between these two so I’ll just mention them both, they are right across from each other. At Renato’s Pizzeria, they have really huge and delicious pizzas, and also really big. Across the street, at the Osteria, you can enjoy fresh pasta. And of course, a scroppino afterwards. Delicious.
Van der Helstplein
Massimo Gelato
Hmm, this might not be a real hotspot, but it does have the best ice cream in Amsterdam, so that counts for something, right? By the way, they have also opened in West. And you’re probably wondering if the ice cream is worth joining the line for, and I can tell you: yes. It absolutely is. One hundred percent.
Van Ostadestraat 147
De Japanner
What’s not to love? The only downside here is the space, but there’s also a location on Bilderdijkstraat that is a bit more spacious, and has a terrace. But the sushi and the Asian bites here are really top-notch and the prices are very reasonable. The gyozas are my all-time favorite.

Calle Ocho
One door down is the fiesta Mexicana at Calle Ocho. So Mexican, with matching cocktails. The great thing about this spot is that it’s open late (and serves food late too), even during the week. So if you’re not ready to go home at one in the morning, you definitely need to stop by here.
Albert Cuypstraat 226
Coffee & Coconuts
I don’t know how they do it, but it’s true: a huge place and still almost always a queue. Before corona, it was packed with people working on their laptops, now that’s a bit less. I personally also find it a nice place to work; they have very good coffee and tasty dishes, even if you want to go a bit on the healthy tour.
Ceintuurbaan 282-284
Bar Fisk
Fish, fish, and more fish. And drinks. That’s also their slogan: Fish & Drinks. And that’s exactly what you can expect, but of course at a high level. Eating here is really a party.
Eerste Sweelinckstraat 23
Oeuf
And if you don’t want fish but eggs, then you go to Oeuf. And who doesn’t want to have breakfast or lunch with an egg? Poached, shakshuka (YES please), scrambled, sunny side… Just all the ways you can think of. And also a nice terrace. Nothing more to add.

Van ’t Spit
One of the nice things about De Pijp in Amsterdam is that you can eat really well on any budget. At this spot, a half chicken costs eleven euros (and you can order side dishes) and I still think it’s the best in Amsterdam. Ideal if you want a quick bite but don’t want to spend a lot of money right away.
Frans Halsstraat 42
Café Caron
And if you do want to spend a bit more money, you can just go a few doors down in the same street. Particularly delicious French food, good service, and really a night out. Their little sister, Petit Caron, is also very nice, but due to corona, it has temporarily moved to Grand Caron. And Grand it certainly is, at the Westergas!
Frans Halsstraat 28
Spaghetteria
To be honest: I never really understood the hype around the Spaghetteria. Yes, the pastas were good, but I always found the locations… Meh. Very small, crowded, and the acoustics weren’t great. But I really think this location is top. Not just big tables where you’re meters apart from a group, but also smaller tables. And well, those pastas, they remain top-notch.
Daniël Stalpertstraat 93-95
Maris Piper
Let’s head towards fine dining, because you can do that very well here at Maris Piper. From the same owners as Breda and Guts & Glory, so I don’t need to tell you that the food here is incredibly good.

Sinne
I mentioned Sinne earlier in a list of the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants, where it is included. So if you want to dine or lunch at star level and don’t want to go bankrupt right away: this is your place. And even if you don’t go bankrupt, you’ll get food and service at star level here.
Ceintuurbaan 342
De Tulp
I love their terrace. Just like all of Amsterdam, because it’s almost always full. From early to late sun, the shared dining concept is nice (and tasty) and they often organize fun theme nights. I ended up there on a salsa night where I didn’t dare to dance myself but the pros were at work. The atmosphere was really top-notch.
Marie Heinekenplein 33
EN Japanese Kitchen & Sake Bar
I often wonder why this sushi spot in De Pijp isn't more well-known. Among enthusiasts, it certainly is, but still: people often go for the best sushi straight to Izakaya or Okura, while I believe that the food at EN is truly on par with these places. So give it a try!
Dusartstraat 53
Five Brothers Fat
Tapas and sangria, a great concept. Correction: very good sangria. Dangerously delicious. So far, I haven't had a massive headache from it, so that's definitely a plus. The terrace at this location (they also have spots in West and East) is quite spacious, and later in the evening, it gets very cozy inside.

Cannibale Royale
Just a good piece of meat. I sometimes crave this immensely, and this is the place I go to. Especially for the burgers. So wonderfully tender, juicy, and large. A corn on the cob on the side, hoppa. The nice thing about this location is that they also have a little terrace with evening sun.
Ruysdaelkade 149
Lolita
Quite hip and happening here, which made me a bit hesitant at first. But to be fair: it really is a nice spot. Good wine, the menu is French, and I find it a lovely place to enjoy oysters on a Sunday.
Ferdinand Bolstraat 58-60
Mana Mana
Vegans, pay attention! Of course, the Vegan Junkfood Bar is a good go-to if you want to eat vegan, but definitely try this one too. Middle Eastern food, shared dining, and so incredibly delicious. ‘In cauliflower we trust’ is their motto, and I trust in Mana Mana! Reservations are recommended.

Little Collins
Recommended for lunch. They also do dinner, but I still need to try that. I always feel comfortable here when I need to work for a few hours. Super friendly staff, and I literally like everything on the menu. That's the kind of choice stress I enjoy.
Eerste Sweelinckstraat 19
Fa. Pekelhaaring
Calling this hotspot in De Pijp an ‘Italian restaurant’ is doing it a huge disservice. Yes, the menu has many Italian influences, but they serve much more. That doesn't mean you should skip the scroppino, quite the opposite. I've been here many times, and not once has it disappointed me even a little. Love it.
Van Woustraat 127
Brouwerij Troost
I'm really a beer drinker (well, I'm mostly a drinker of everything), so I can't get enough of this place. The terrace is also nice and spacious, and after corona, they've made it even cozier. Nice! Great for drinks and/or dining with a larger group. The burgers are the absolute recommendations.
