23x blood irritating statements from parents

I used to get furious when I felt my parents treated me like a little child. I thought I was quite wise, so I never really understood why I wasn't addressed like an adult. What annoying comments parents could make, right? Often combined with such a condescending tone, you can still get angry when you think back on it. Some of those statements are really burned into your retina, those were the typical comments that all parents (in my opinion) make. I'm curious if I'll ever use them myself, just to see what it feels like to be that annoying.

1. ‘You look with your eyes, not with your hands.’

2. ‘This is not a hotel.’

3. ‘Not in the mood? Then make yourself in the mood.’

4. ‘You only say that kind of thing to your friends.’

5. ‘Do you behave like that in class too?’

6. ‘They have hunger in Africa, you have cravings.’

7. ‘I want, I want, I want… I also want something.’

8. ‘Are you completely out of your mind?’

9. ‘Look at me for a moment.’

10. ‘Too much television will give you square eyes.’

11. ‘So if your friends jump in the ditch, you do that too?’

12. ‘Because I say so, that’s why.’

13. ‘Am I speaking Chinese sometimes?’

14. ‘When I was your age…’

15. ‘What do we say then? Exactly: thank you.’

16. ‘Finish your plate.’

17. ‘That’s going to be crying time.’

18. ‘I’m not saying this to annoy you.’

19. ‘I want you to do that now. Not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow, but now.’

20. ‘You’re not going anywhere until your room is tidy.’

21. ‘Which part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?’

22. ‘Just wait until you have kids yourself.’

23. ‘As long as you live in this house, our rules apply.’
