Exclusive: Netflix is coming out with its first adult-only film

This year, Netflix is bringing something completely new to their genre: the very first adult-only film will appear on the streaming service. And no, it's not a gigantic porn film (which, to be honest, I thought when I first read it). In fact, it's a film that I genuinely look forward to; the film Blonde is a biopic about Marilyn Monroe. In the United States, it has received an NC-17 rating (or 18+) due to the sexual content in the film.

But there are many more reasons why we are looking forward to this film, for example because Marilyn Monroe in Blonde is played by Ana de Armas, who I have had quite a girl crush on since No Time To Die (how ridiculous was it that she only appeared for so few minutes in that film?) or that she is accompanied by Adrien Brody; also not the least. Brad Pitt is also one of the producers. Can't go wrong, right?

The film is based on the book by Joyce Carol Oates and will mainly focus on the sensational stories, events, and relationships in her life. One example of this was her affair with President John F. Kennedy, and of course the theory that her death was actually a murder.

Notably, the film has long been finished. What, Netflix? In fact, it was completed in 2019, but Netflix has been delaying it. According to insiders, this is because the film is said to be ‘too graphic’. Okay, okay, our interest is already piqued.

Author Oates has already seen the film, at least, the uncensored version of it. She said the following about it: ‘I have seen the rough cut of the film and it is astonishing, brilliant, very disturbing and perhaps the most surprising is the feminist interpretation... I don't know if there is a male director who has achieved something like this.’

Netflix, COME ON. We want to see this film NOW and if it's been gathering dust on your shelves for a while... What are you waiting for? Because yes, bad news: no release date has been announced yet, except that it will be sometime in 2022. Pfff.
