Is botox bad for your sex life?

botox is bad for your sex life

Nowadays, we don't get so uptight about the use of botox anymore. A shot here, a jab there, and your lines disappear like snow in the sun. I don't necessarily encourage the use of botox, but I can imagine that people might feel more confident because of it. For example, if you've been bothered by that one wrinkle for a long time, your self-confidence might get a huge boost after such a treatment. You would also expect that this contributes to a better sex life, after all, you look nice and smooth again in bed.

Yet it turns out that this is not the case, and to add insult to injury: the intensity of your orgasms actually decreases due to the use of botox. Here's how it works: you may have noticed that people can look quite remarkable when they climax. Those looks are not exactly charming, but such things happen to you due to ultimate pleasure. Well, since botox flattens the muscles, it is therefore plausible that these wild expressions will diminish somewhat. You might think: great, then I look just a bit more charming in bed, but unfortunately, this turns out to be the downside.

Psychologist Michael Lewis investigated this issue in 2018. He wondered whether having botox is an obstacle during climaxing, because your facial muscles function less well. A smart question from Lewis. To find out, he asked 36 women who had treated their frown about their sex life before and after the treatment. Part of the group had their frown treated with botox, while the other part had their frown addressed with a filler or laser treatment. In the latter two treatments, the muscles are not paralyzed, unlike the botox treatment.

The result? The women who had undergone a botox treatment were less happy with their orgasms. They not only took longer to reach a climax, but also found it much less enjoyable to orgasm. The intensity of their orgasms had significantly decreased after the botox treatment. The women who had their frown treated in another way, on the other hand, did not experience any issues at all. Well, that doesn't sound too good, if you ask me.

So are you considering botox or do you perhaps already have your first appointment scheduled? Then think it over carefully. Ask yourself what you find more important: a smooth little head or ultimate pleasure in bed. Choices, choices, choices.
