These celebs are banned from the Met Gala

Tonight is the event of the year: the Met Gala in New York. I was a bit surprised by that, because it feels like it just happened. And that's somewhat true, because in 2021 it was only in the fall due to corona. Normally, it takes place in May, like tonight, and now that corona is somewhat under control, they are going back to their normal timing.

The theme this year is Gilded Glamour and no, I wouldn't necessarily know what to do with that theme. For the celebrities below, it's certainly not a problem: they are no longer welcome at the Met Gala.

1. Tim Gunn
The rumors that he was not welcome had been circulating for a while, until he confirmed it himself in 2016: he had offended Anna Wintour and that is, of course, really not done at the Met Gala, where she controls the guest list.

2. Gwyneth Paltrow
She is allowed to come again (since 2017), but before that she was on the blacklist for a few years. That was due to an interview she gave in 2013, in which she said that the Met Gala ‘sucked’ and that it was way too crowded and a bit of a disappointment. But it seems that these statements have been forgiven.

3. Donald Trump
Anna Wintour herself confirmed this when she was a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He asked her who could never count on an invitation and she answered without thinking: ‘Donald Trump.’ Understandably so.

4. Josh Hartnett
I believe the whole world was in love with him back in the day, so it makes perfect sense that he was on the list at that time. But for the last decade, he doesn't have to count on that anymore, because Anna Wintour no longer finds him relevant.

5. Kim Kardashian
Her ban has been lifted, but I still thought it was worth mentioning. In 2012, someone close to Anna said: ‘Anna hates Kim. Why would she be invited? The biggest stars in the world come here and she doesn't belong in that class at all.’ Moral of the story: never give up on your dreams.

6. Rachel Zoe
She proclaimed that she would have more influence than Anna Wintour and that was not taken kindly. That was in 2007, for which she had an invitation that was revoked without hesitation.
