Last week I was on a ‘babymoon’, or the very last vacation with my boyfriend before the baby arrives. I had never heard of this until a few months ago, but apparently it's called that and it's quite a trend. We went for a week to the Greek island of Rhodes, Adeline's favorite, and we stayed at the super cool hotel Casa Cook. We booked half board because this time we didn't feel like going out every evening, even though we usually find that the most fun. The expectations were quite high, which often secretly leads to disappointment, but hallelujah, it was wonderful there. The breakfast was truly delicious (if you go: always check the specialty of the morning) and at dinner there was a different menu every evening. Five (!) courses to be exact, consisting of soup, salads, local dishes, meat or fish, and the most delicious desserts, making you roll into bed completely stuffed. Speaking of the rooms: we booked one with a slightly larger terrace that was by the pool. The only downside was that we had morning sun, while we actually wanted to lie on our private terrace at the end of the day, so check this in advance. Fortunately, there were two different pools where you could relax, one with chill DJ music and a cozy bar, the other actually still officially closed, but the thick mattresses and cushions were already there. The pool was so large, beautiful, and quiet; it was a lovely place to be. The restaurant/bar by that pool was not yet open, but they were busy with the final touches. Fun insider info: the restaurant will have an Italian theme, with the most delicious wines. We saw the wine list from Dimitri's notebook, the man who will run the new spot but was still working in the restaurant where we dined in the evening. A few meters away, they were also busy preparing a spa. I secretly peeked inside and just from that, I already felt completely relaxed. It's almost a shame that it's an adults-only hotel, because it will be less easy to go there with a newborn in the coming time. Maybe I should just look sweetly at my parents, because I want to go back there as soon as possible.
