So fun: the Happiness Taxi for Christmas rides

This is just so fun: this week the free Happiness Taxi is driving around. This is a decorated Christmas car including a driver who takes his/her passenger (while the best Christmas hits blast from the speaker) to the place that makes him/her the happiest. Sweet, right? You get in, tell where you want to be taken, and the Happiness Taxi will take you there directly for free. Yes, you read that right: completely free. The initiative is from the National Postcode Lottery. They say: happiness can just stand at your door, and with this taxi, that is more than true. The taxi may not have to drive very far. Research shows that the Dutch are already quite happy: on average, they rate their life a 7.7.

Here are the further statistics: two out of three Dutch people (64%) have warm feelings about the place where they grew up, and a quarter (25%) even longs to return. So it's not surprising that this Christmas we are massively returning to our old hometown: half (52%) even celebrates Christmas Day in the municipality where he or she grew up, while only a third (30%) stays in their current village or city. The fact that we cherish warm feelings for our youth is also evident from the fact that three-quarters (74%) of the Dutch still remember their postcode from back then. The Frisians stand out this time with their elephant memory, as no less than 91% can still recite the combination of numbers and letters.

The Happiness Taxi drove in Amsterdam yesterday, today December 21 in Groningen and Drachten, and Thursday December 22 in Eindhoven. The taxi can be hailed on the spot for a ride. Read all the information further on the Postcode Lottery website.
