landscape with Wieke in Iceland

Oooh, I have such a nice, beautiful, and special tip for you today. In December, I went to Iceland for the first time and I'm already dreaming about my return. I've traveled quite a bit, but I've never seen a country and nature like Iceland: exceptionally beautiful. I was there for only five days, so it was a bit of effective planning, but luckily it all worked out well. And where I stayed the first two nights... Yes, you really want to see that.

That is at Seljalandsfoss Horizons in Hvolsvollur (no worries, I literally can't pronounce a single place name except Reykjavik after a week) and I can only say that it is pure enjoyment. I booked this lodge via Booking.com and it is just a stone's throw away from Seljalandsfoss (foss = waterfall in Icelandic, I did pick that up). Iceland has an enormous number of waterfalls, but the special thing about this one is that it is also illuminated at night. We arrived in the dark and immediately stopped by, so beautiful!

The interior of the lodge itself is also so cool. Beautifully modern, cozy, and very well laid out. They are not large lodges, but you still have two very decent bedrooms and a good bathroom. Furthermore, there was a Nespresso machine with pods (which I always find a huge plus) and everything in the house to be able to cook.

Really, treat yourself to a stay at Seljalandsfoss Horizons when you go to Iceland. The surroundings are just as fairy-tale beautiful and from here you can road trip to Skógafoss, Black Sand Beach, the Yoda Cave, and various glaciers. In short: all the sightseeing spots in the south are easily accessible from this place. And fingers crossed for the northern lights, because you also have a chance of seeing them from here.
