J.Lo was furious when she had to share her halftime show with Shakira

On Tuesday, the documentary about Jennifer Lopez will be released on Netflix, called Halftime. And as the title suggests, this documentary indeed revolves around her performance during the Super Bowl, the event of American television. You need to have a few million in the bank if you want to make a few seconds of advertising, and being asked as an artist during the halftime show is, of course, a huge honor. It makes sense that only the really big names are asked for this: Beyoncé, Coldplay, and of course the coolest (in my opinion) was last time with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and more.

And of course J.Lo, but she had to share the stage with Shakira. And, as we will see in the documentary, she was far from happy about that. Generally, artists get over ten minutes to shine on that stage (Beyoncé, for example, got thirteen), but J.Lo and Shakira together got no extra minute, even though they were in the spotlight together. And that didn't sit well with La Lopez.

‘We have six fucking minutes,’ says Jennifer in her documentary. ‘We have 30 seconds of a song and if we take a minute, that’s it, we’ve got five left. But there’s got to be certain songs that we sing, though. We have to have our singing moments.’

Honestly: I understand her. They are really two legends, J.Lo and Shakira. And if you both only get six minutes to cram in all the highlights of your career, that becomes quite difficult. Now, I also believe that J.Lo doesn't have the absolute best voice to shine live for hours, but still, this is really short.

‘It’s not going to be a dance fucking revue. We have to sing our message. This is the worst idea in the world to have two people at the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world,’ she continued in her plea against this plan. The dissatisfaction about sharing a stage didn't come because she has something against Shakira, but because she wants more minutes of show for both of them.

Anyway, it seems that she will confirm her image as a diva in the documentary, but at this point, I do agree with her? I think. Although the show of Eminem and co was a little over fourteen minutes, and that had to be divided among six artists. So, well, it can always be worse.
