Kim Kardashian fined over one million dollars for Instagram advertisement

A bit of a setback for Kim Kardashian today: she has to pay a hefty fine. One that would mean complete bankruptcy for us ‘normal people’ and one that you might never be able to pay off, but for Kim it won't come to that. But still, over a million is a hefty amount. To be precise, she has to pay 1.26 million due to an advertisement she posted on Instagram.

Kim Kardashian has been in a dispute with the SEC, the American regulator for financial markets, about this for some time. The problem: Kim had advertised crypto (EthereumMax to be exact) on her Instagram account and failed to mention that it was an advertisement. She received a whopping 250K dollars for that one post, so there was certainly an advertisement involved.

It has been known for some time now that there is stricter scrutiny on these types of collaborations: influencers and celebrities do not always put ‘#ad’ with their post, or another type of mention that refers to a paid collaboration.

Kim Kardashian will probably be a bit sharper about this from now on, because you don't want such a fine again, I think. By the way, let's hope she didn't invest her earnings from this post in this currency, because its value has more than halved in the past few months.
