Martijn Krabbé talks about The Voice

‘I am responsible’

An official response was given by Martijn Krabbé immediately after the broadcast of BOOS about the inappropriate behavior that allegedly took place at The Voice. Sympathy for the victims, the right thing. But how he really felt, Martijn Krabbé kept to himself for a while. Until last night when we saw him at Isola di Beau and he openly shared what it did and does to him.

He feels guilty. He is the captain of the ship called The Voice. That this happened ‘on his watch’, he finds terrible. ‘If even one percent of what is being said is true, then that is already disastrous.’ He sighs in between and looks affected. Beau doesn’t quite understand the word ‘guilty’. Martijn hasn’t done anything wrong, has he? ‘But I should have known. Or at least asked if people felt safe.’ Again that worried look.

What Martijn finds important to say is that three people have done wrong things, but against those three stand 197 people who are indeed good. Those who have given everything with heart, soul, and dedication to create the best program.

Now that he is at it, Anouk also gets a turn. She is a diva, a difficult woman. Someone who looks down on the program and actually had no desire to coach a whole group while she only had faith and trust in one person. A waste of her time. According to Martijn, the team rolled out the red carpet for Anouk for six years and did everything to make her happy because she is simply gold for the program. That she immediately quits her cooperation with The Voice after this news comes out and dismisses everyone as a ‘hypocritical bunch’ he finds painful.

And then Martijn goes to start a fire and marinate prawns for Beau and Monica Geuze, the other guest. I saw what I already thought: Martijn is good. Period.

Just for him, you wish that The Voice will someday return in a good and safe form. And for those poor candidates who saw an abrupt end to their dream.
