Tinder is coming out with a blind date feature

Tinder is going a bit back to basics when it comes to dating and is introducing a feature that actually goes against the whole concept of Tinder. Tinder was very simple and straightforward: you see photos of someone and decide if you would like to get to know that person better. That's it. Okay, it might lean a bit towards a meat market, but many people in my circle have already found a relationship through Tinder, bought a house, and there are Tinder babies waddling around. So you can conclude that love does indeed come from it.

But I bet the creators behind Tinder also have seen the Netflix hit Love Is Blind and thought: ‘ha! We can do that too.’ And yes, there is indeed a blind date feature coming from Tinder.

This feature is called Fast Chat: Blind Date and Tinder itself matches you with someone based on your personal preferences and a series of questions. Once you are matched, you can start a conversation with each other, and then you decide if you actually want to be matched. Is that a ‘yes’? Only then do you get to see each other's full profiles.

In that chat where you are both placed, there is a timer. After that, you can indicate whether you would prefer to be matched with someone else or if you like this person.

‘We have all seen the mix of anticipation and excitement in a blind date with some of our favorite movie or TV characters, and we wanted to recreate that experience for today's generation with the Blind Date feature,’ said the VP of Product Innovation at Tinder. ‘There is something very special about getting to know someone's personality through a conversation, without the prejudices you can get from photos. The new Blind Date experience is a surprisingly fun, conversation-based way to interact and make connections, which is completely new for Tinder.’

Well, amen. I am genuinely curious about this feature because I can imagine that it could become quite a success. Tinder has already tested this a bit, by the way: in their early research, it emerged that there were 40 percent more matches.

Then the most important question: how do you use it? The Blind Date feature is available from six in the evening until midnight (local time), and then you log into the Explore section of Tinder. Then you go to the Fast Chat feature and there you will see the Blind Dates.

And when can we expect this feature? Well, very soon. The definitive date will follow, but it will be sometime in early April. Let the dating games begin.
