Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: Mayolovers pay attention: these 9 things you really want to know.

Mayonnaise lovers, please report here. You want to repeat these nine amazing facts about mayo over and over again until you know them inside and out. Because wow, that white super sauce is just fantastic.

Mayo is indispensable in your sandwiches, when making toasties, and with your fries. And of course, you can dip your fries in ketchup and there is also fry sauce, but that is by no means the same. What would we do without mayonnaise? These nine reasons clearly show why mayonnaise is the absolute top sauce.

#1: Easy to make yourself
Nothing wrong with the mayonnaise from Kewpie, Jean Bâton, Zaanse mayonnaise from a tube or a jar of Hellmann’s, but homemade mayo is the absolute best. And the big advantage: you make it completely to your own taste. Do you like a bit of spice in the pot? Go ahead, add a scoop of sriracha to your mayonnaise. Sour? Use some nice French mustard. Difficult? I don't think so.

#2: Marinate your chicken with it
Mayonnaise is a mixture of something sour, oil, egg, and salt. The perfect marinade for a roasted chicken! Coat the whole chicken with mayonnaise before it goes in the oven, and it will get a delicious crispy crust. Extra tasty: add a bit of bouillon powder to the mayonnaise or some Worcestershire sauce before you coat the chicken.

#3: Also for breakfast
For some reason, we make different sandwiches for breakfast than for lunch. But why? Of course, you can have breakfast with a nice club sandwich, with plenty of mayonnaise on each toasted slice of bread.

#4: Herbs in it
You have a leftover parsley in the vegetable drawer, the basil plant on the counter has a few wilting leaves left, and what should you do with that chives? Chop them roughly, add some mayonnaise, and then stick the immersion blender in. Result: a very tasty green mayonnaise.

#5: Mashed potatoes plus
The secret ingredient for super creamy mashed potatoes full of flavor: a few spoons of mayonnaise. Don't be afraid that your mashed potatoes will taste like mayonnaise, because that's not the case. You just get a nice creamy, smooth puree, and who wouldn't want that?

#6: Grilled shrimp
Brush some mayo over the jumbo shrimp that you are going to put on the barbecue. This will give you a nicer, browner layer on the outside, and those things won't stick so stubbornly to your barbecue grill. Even your grilled steak can benefit from it!

#7: Perfect breading layer
Are you going to bread something, then you already know how that goes: a plate with flour, a plate with egg, and a plate with breadcrumbs, and then dip everything through those plates. That can be easier: dip your nuggets, schnitzel, or piece of fish in the mayonnaise and then in the panko or bread crumbs. Perfect breading layer please!

#8: Salad dressing
Is the jar of mayonnaise almost empty and you don't know how to scrape out those last bits neatly? Solution: use that jar to make a salad dressing. Just put the oil, some vinegar, and other ingredients in the jar, shake well and: enjoy.

#9: Star marinade
Marinate the meat in a dressing of mayonnaise with some miso, garlic, lemon, and other good flavors, it works perfectly. Also a great dip for raw vegetables by the way.
