Bizarre new development in the Natalee Holloway case

Natalee Holloway

Could it be? I no longer dare to hope for this, but how nice it would be for the family to finally find out what happened to Natalee Holloway in 2005. The only suspect is still Joran van der Sloot, who was sentenced to 28 years in Peru for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores. However, the chance that he will ever be released is getting smaller, as he also has to appear in court in America for extorting Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway.

He lost a preliminary hearing there in June; he was to be extradited to America and wanted to contest that with his lawyer, without success. Therefore, he was flown to America on June 8 to stand trial there. He is currently held in the Hoover City Jail in Alabama.

That case will be heard tomorrow, but the lawyers have already announced that he has been presented with a so-called plea deal plea deal; in exchange for revealing what happened to Natalee, he would receive a lighter sentence.

John Q. Kelly, the lawyer for the Holloway family, says: ‘The condition was presented to Mr. Van der Sloot that he would reveal how Natalee died,’ but also: ‘There will be no further investigation or search for Natalee's remains.’ Quite remarkable; from this, it seems we can conclude that Natalee's mother is satisfied with his confession about what happened that evening, May 30, 2005, with her daughter and that she will not take any further steps.

Because as we all know by now, Joran has lied more than once about that evening, of which the secret recordings in the car with Patrick van der Eem (who went undercover in collaboration with Peter R. de Vries) caused the most uproar. Joran then said that ‘Natalee will never be found.’.

‘I know what happened to that girl and I am also the only one […] Something happened there and […] Yes, the ocean is big, huh? […] And, I think I was very lucky that she hasn't been found, because if they find that girl, I'm screwed.’

Whether we will finally hear the real story, we will find out tomorrow.
