Away from the crowd, offline and into nature but still luxury and comfort. That sounded more than good to me and especially wonderfully peaceful. I packed my weekend bag and headed towards the Veluwe. In my opinion the place to be in the Netherlands where you can experience all of this at its best, and within a two-hour drive.
Upon arrival, I already knew that this weekend would be too short and that going home again would be a difficult task. From the Cuber Suite you look out over a fairytale-like forest environment. Not only is the nature beautiful, but the interior is also amazing. There is the Cuber app where you have a personal guide (Eline was very helpful), with which you control the curtains, lighting, and climate control, and among other things, you can also order your breakfast that you can then eat from the beautiful Piet Boon crockery.

Our cottage had a beautiful hot tub on the terrace next to a wood stove. The original plan was to immediately put on our hiking boots and walk into the woods from the Cuber Suites. A chill playlist playing through the Sonos speakers and the sun shining as if it were mid-spring quickly changed that. We opened a bottle of wine and I caught myself feeling the ultimate vacation vibe. In the evening we decided to heat up the hot tub ’just a little‘. Tip: start this on time, otherwise you'll find yourself in a warm bath at midnight with your good behavior. Anyway, hot tubbing under a starry sky has its charm too.
Rested and enjoyed a good breakfast, we started the next day. What is the number 1 to-do for everyone staying in the Veluwe? Indeed: hiking. So shall I, I thought. We put on our hiking boots and headed to one of the main entrances of the Hoge Veluwe, which was just a five-minute drive from the Cuber Suites. Ready for a long hike, we were kindly advised to use the free white bikes, as the friendly man behind the desk thought walking from that point was a bit too ambitious. We cycled through a beautiful area where forest and heath alternated. Unfortunately, we didn't spot any wild boars or deer, but this was great for my good intention, as going outside more and moving more are part of that and both have been going medium well so far.

Sometimes it can be so nice and good to retreat into nature, truly my number 1 tip for you to recharge your battery. If you're looking for a place: Cuber Suites is where you need to be.
