Wow: things are really going that badly for Céline Dion

By

This year she was forced to cancel her entire tour, which meant that her Dutch concert is also being canceled: Céline Dion's health is currently said to be too poor to perform. Emphasizing currently, as the singer assured her fans that she really wanted to make up for the concerts and perform quickly when she is stronger.

It only seems that this moment will not come, as the Canadian singer is said to be in much worse condition than was reported. This is written by The National Enquirer, so take it with a grain of salt, although it is quite plausible that she is a lot sicker than is being disclosed.

According to this magazine, Céline has not been seen in public for 600 days and only stays inside the house. ‘She has difficulty walking and has reached the point where loud noises cause spasms. Her back is bent and her muscle spasms are sometimes unbearable. The illness affects her voice, which sounds different. Additionally, she is also increasingly struggling to breathe,’ a ‘friend’ tells the magazine.

The illness he is referring to is stiff-person syndrome: a neurological condition that causes severe muscle spasms, with fluctuating stiffness of the trunk and limbs. But this syndrome can also be accompanied by extreme phobia for certain tasks and ankylosing deformities. The latter was unfamiliar to me, but a hernia is included there, for example, and other rheumatic conditions. In short: this disease is truly hell.

Sister Claudette has also spoken to the magazine: ‘The doctors are unable to find medication that works. Still, we remain hopeful.’ and her other sister, Linda, says: ‘She keeps fighting. She is also surrounded by the very best doctors and researchers whom she listens to attentively.’

That Céline Dion cannot perform is clearly the least of her worries. Hopefully, these ‘very best doctors’ can do something to make it more bearable.
