Fact or fiction: does the sex position affect getting pregnant?

When a couple has decided to try to get pregnant, I often see that the Google mode is activated in my surroundings. In other words: looking everything up. Somewhere I understand that, because of course we want to plan everything, and unfortunately, that doesn't work with getting pregnant. But especially when it takes longer to conceive, people are often willing to do anything to make it succeed. Going into such a Google mode can also be quite dangerous, as there is a lot of misinformation on the internet.

It's high time to do a fact or myth: does the sexual position affect the speed at which you get pregnant? Many websites state that the missionary position would be the most favorable because the sperm would come closest to the uterus. It's striking that many mommy websites repeat this without any substantiation, because you guessed it: there is zero evidence that this would actually help. The only reason people believe this is that this position involves deep penetration (but that also happens with doggy style, for example).

What has been proven is that it matters when you have sex and what you do afterward. Having sex every two to three days leading up to your ovulation is the most ideal. After sex, it's important to lie still with a pillow under your pelvis, so that it is elevated a bit. Hold this for ten to fifteen minutes. You can also lean your legs against a wall to help gravity. Of course, this is not a guarantee, but it has been proven that it really works.

Of course, there are a number of positions that make getting pregnant very unlikely. Leave out the Russian, Dutch, Italian, and Greek styles if you want to get pregnant.
